Worth Ranch Guided Property Visit

Following the impact of the Ross Fire, Longhorn Council is offering an opportunity to participate in a guided visit of designated areas of Worth Ranch. This visit is intended to provide participants with a firsthand view of portions of the property while helping preserve site safety, recovery efforts, and ongoing assessments.

Important: Worth Ranch remains an active recovery site. The property has not been declared free of hazards. Participation is voluntary and limited to adults 18 years of age or older and Scouts BSA aged youth (ages 11-17) accompanied at all times by a parent / legal guardian.

Space is limited and only registered guests will be permitted on property. 

Event Schedule

Participants should arrive on time and plan to remain with their assigned tour group throughout the event.

Tour Details

• Parking: All guests will park at McClure and travel by bus to main camp.
• Check-In & Safety Briefing: Please arrive at least 15 mintues before your schedueld tour time to check-in
• Tours
  • Begin every half hour from 9 AM to 3 PM
  • 20 Registered guests per tour
  • 90 minutes long (guests do not need to stay the entire 90 minutes)

Areas Included in the Tour

At this time, guided tours will be limited to the Main Parade Grounds area and other specifically designated viewing locations.

For participant safety and to protect ongoing recovery efforts, tours will not include access to less secure areas of the property, including but not limited to, the Bottoms, Upper campsites, Ranger residence area, Program areas, Warehouse area, and inside Damaged structures.

  • All participants are required to review the release before attending. The release explains the risks associated with entering an active wildfire recovery site and the conditions of participation.
  • While the release is provided in advance for review, all participants will be required to sign a printed copy during check-in before being permitted to enter Worth Ranch. Participants who choose not to sign the release will not be allowed to participate in the tour.

Memory & Reflection Wall

Guests are invited to bring copies of photographs, camp memorabilia, written memories, notes of encouragement, Scout stories, or messages reflecting what Worth Ranch has meant to them, their families, units, or generations of Scouts. These items may be displayed during the event for others to view and reflect upon.

Please bring copies rather than original irreplaceable items. Materials submitted for display may not be returned.

A Few Additional Reminders

• This is a guided tour event.
• Participants must always remain with their group.
• Closed-toe shoes or boots are required.
• Conditions may include ash, soot, smoke residue, uneven terrain, damaged infrastructure, and other wildfire-related hazards.
• The event route, schedule, or activities may be modified, delayed, or canceled if conditions change or safety concerns arise.

We understand that many people want to attend a tour, but space is limited. If tours are fully booked, we encourage you to join a tour waitlist. If future tours are planned, guests from the waitlist will be given first access to any potential future dates.
