Camp Tahuaya Summer Merit Badge Academy Classes

Friday morning through Sunday Noon on Weekends in June and July

Troops can sign up for merit badge classes at the Summer Merit Badge Academy.

Troops will bring their own food, do their own cooking in their campsite, and manage their trip as normal unit weekend camping trip. Arrive Friday morning, leave Sunday noon.

Classes will be offered in a morning time block from 8:00 am to 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and an afternoon time block from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday and Saturday. Because of COVID-19 rules, each class can be reserved by only one Troop in any time block each weekend. Note that several Trail to First Class sections are available (take only 1 AM or PM section of TFC).

Registration is a 2-Step process. Reserve a class by signing up a Team of 6 Scouts BSA youth for any of the Merit Badges on the list. Then tell us how many additional Scouts you would like in each class.. The registrar will email to confirm that you can register the additional Scouts classes and enter all the Scout's names.

Classes are first-come-First-served. Instructors will provide class instruction only (with some assistance by the adults who are required to accompany the youth to each class)

Current protocols for social distancing, hygiene and disinfecting will be enforced, as well as Youth Protection and the Buddy System. All participants must bring their own cloth masks to wear. Masks are required in the following areas:

• anytime you are in a building
• in class as directed
• when approaching close to staff or Scouts/adults who are not from your Troop.

Each class listed below is offered twice: once in each time block

• AM Merit Badge Block - 8 am-12 PM  (two mornings, Sat. and Sun.)
• PM Merit Badge Block - 2 PM-6 PM  (two afternoons, Fri. and Sat.)

COST. Youth $70.  Adults Free.

MB Classes.  Only one Troop may sign up for and attend each class. Each class has a minimum and maximum group size. Each group of Scouts attending a class must be accompanied by Troop adults at all times.

Each class is offered twice: once in the morning time block, once on the afternoon time block. Only Trail to First Class has more than two 2-day class blocks available.

Trail to First Class. Several sections of TFC are available so that any interested Troop will be able to sign up a group of Scouts. Minimum group size is 6 youth + 2 adults. There is no maximum group size for TFC. Each group of Scouts attending must be accompanied by at least 2 adults who will assist with instruction. TFC also includes kits for Basketry MB and Wood Carving MB (bring a pocketknife).
