Scout Sunday, Scout Sabbath, and Scout Jumuah

Scout Sunday, Scout Sabbath, and Scout Jumuah
Scout Sunday, Scout Sabbath, and Scout Jumuah are three meaningful observances within Scouting America. First recognized in 1914, these days celebrate the service and positive impact of both youth and adult members of the Scouting movement. Observing Scout Sunday, Scout Sabbath, and Scout Jumuah also provides an opportunity to introduce Scouting to members of faith communities who may be unfamiliar with the program.
Scout Sunday is traditionally held on the Sunday closest to Scouting America’s anniversary on February 8, though congregations may select a different date to meet their needs. For instance, the United Methodist Church observes Scout Sunday on the second Sunday in February to avoid conflict with Transfiguration Sunday. Individual churches may likewise choose an alternate Sunday. Scout Sabbath is typically observed on the Saturday following Scout Sunday, but congregations may designate another Sabbath if preferred.
For 2026, the following observance dates are recommended:
• Scout Sunday – February 8, 2026
• Scout Sabbath/Scout Shabbat – February 6 and 7, 2026
• Scout Jumuah – February 5 and 6, 2026
We encourage all Scouts to show up to a religious service of their choice in their uniform to increase awareness of Scouting in your community and also to demonstrate Scouts performing "Duty to God". This is also a great time to perform visible community service and show Scouts caring for the world and environment around us.
