Pathfinder Compass Award

Award Description

The Pathfinder Compass Award recognizes Scouters whose greatest impact is at the unit level, where the foundation of Scouting begins. Many of these leaders quietly give of themselves in ways that may not always be visible beyond their own unit, yet their efforts are essential to the strength and vitality of the Scouting program.

These individuals provide steady guidance, support, and inspiration to the youth in their community helping them chart a course toward leadership, character, and service. Their dedication directly shapes the quality of the Scouting experience and ensures that young people benefit from a meaningful, lasting program.

Recipients of the Pathfinder Compass Award are selected by the Pathfinder District Commissioners in honor of their commitment, positive influence, and role as a true “compass” for the future of Scouting.

District Award of Merit

Award Description

The District Award of Merit is the highest recognition a district can present to a volunteer Scouter. It honors individuals who have rendered outstanding service at the district level service that goes above and beyond the expectations of their Scouting position.

This award is presented by districts in the same manner that councils present the Silver Beaver Award. Districts may present one award for every 25 traditional units (or fraction thereof) each year, though they are not required to use all available slots annually.

Nominees must be registered Scouters who have provided noteworthy service to youth within Scouting, in the community, or both. Consideration is given to the nominee’s volunteer role, the significance of their contributions, and their cooperation and support of the district and council.

Please note: Professional Scouters or council employees may not receive this award based on duties performed in their employment, and nominations cannot be made posthumously.

Pathfinder Driving Force Award

Award Description

The Pathfinder Driving Force Award was established in 2024 to honor leaders and parents who drive progress and ignite momentum within Scouting. While Scouting is built on teamwork, some individuals stand out as the driving force behind creating outstanding youth experiences. Their vision, energy, and commitment inspire others and help ensure the continued success and growth of the Scouting program.

This award recognizes those whose initiative and dedication spark action, strengthen their unit, and elevate the overall quality of the Scouting experience for youth.

One recipient may be recognized per unit each year.

------

Pathfinder Legacy Award

Award Description

Established in 2020, the Pathfinder Legacy Award recognizes Scouters who continue to serve even after their own children have completed the program. These individuals demonstrate long-term dedication by sharing their time, skills, and experience to strengthen Scouting at the unit, district, and council levels.

Recipients must have provided at least five years of continued service beyond their family’s direct involvement. Their ongoing commitment ensures that new generations of youth benefit from meaningful Scouting experiences, guided by mentors who exemplify the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Pathfinder Award

Award Description

The Pathfinder Award, established in 2020, recognizes Scouters whose impact reaches beyond their own unit. Recipients are leaders who provide high-quality Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Exploring programs while also contributing meaningfully to Scouting at the district and council levels.

These individuals exemplify service by sharing their time, talents, and leadership to strengthen the broader Scouting community. Their efforts open new opportunities for youth, support collaboration among volunteers, and help build strong, lasting programs that positively influence future generations.

One recipient may be recognized per unit each year.

All nomination forms are available on the Black Pug registration site for the Pathfinder District Annual Awards Dinner, located under the Attachments section.

We’ll also present the 2025 Golden Shovel Award, so be sure you are logging all your service hours!

Silent Auction

Donations Needed – Your Support Makes a Difference!

We warmly invite you to contribute to our annual Silent Auction during the dinner. Your donations help fund Pathfinder District programs, including district events, Roundtable, and the Gloria Coyle Day Camp Scholarship Program, providing meaningful opportunities for youth to grow and thrive. Every contribution big or small truly makes a difference, and we appreciate your help in supporting our Scouts and their experiences.

We’re seeking support from our Scouting community to help make this fundraiser a success. If you, your unit, or any local business you know can donate items, gift cards, or experiences for the auction, it would be greatly appreciated. Every contribution helps strengthen the programs that serve our Scouts and leaders.

Please reach out if you can assist or would like more details on how to contribute.
