Merit Badge College - Orion

Calling all Scouts! Get ready for Orion’s Merit Badge College, where two action-packed days of learning, exploring, and badge-earning await! Join us at the Garden Ridge Church of Christ on January 25 and March 01, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., for an experience designed for Scouts eager to dive into new skills and make friends along the way. (If you are only able to attend one weekend, you will receive partial credit for the requirements covered while attending.)

Whether you’re interested in building a robot, mastering survival skills, or uncovering the mysteries of nature, Orion’s Merit Badge College has something for everyone. Imagine days packed with hands-on activities, expert guides, and exciting badge challenges that bring you closer to your goals. It’s the perfect opportunity to try new things, ask questions, and make unforgettable memories with other Scouts!

Open Registration: November 8, 2024

Close Registration: January 18, 2025

Single Registration: Sign up once to attend both weekends! YOU MUST REGISTER HERE TO ATTEND

Lunch Option: Offered by the Order of the Arrow Scouts on the registration page, featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, and a vegetarian option for $10 (please bring gluten-free buns if needed). You can purchase at the event during registration on the morning of the first day.

Archaeology, Art, Automotive Maintenance, Citizenship in the Community*, Citizenship in the Nation*, Citizenship in the Word*, Communication*, Cooking*, Crime Prevention, Digital Technology, Dog Care, Electricity, Emergency Preparedness*, Engineering, Family Life*, First Aid*, Geocaching, Hiking*, Personal Management*, Photography, Plumbing, Programming, Salesmanship, Sustainability*, Traffic Safety.  Course offerings are subject to counselor and space availability.

 *You must have your Longhorn Council Registration Confirmation Email to complete the course selection form.  Please note some merit badges will have minimum age requirements and may have separate material costs that students will owe their instructor. 

Blue Cards (Option): Remember to bring a blue card filled out with scout information for all registered merit badges if your unit leadership prefers this method. Electronic completion reports will be sent to units, so blue cards are not required.

Adult Unit Participation:
Each unit should send 1 adult leader for every 10 scouts attending to handle personnel and unit issues.  In addition, units are encouraged to help staff Merit Badge College (1 instructor per 8 scouts attending, this way, we can have 2 in all classrooms – instructor and assistant.)

NOTE: Citizenship in the Nation (weekend 1) and Citizenship in the World (weekend 2) will be offered 10:30-12:00 – second period only in the auditorium and Personal Management (both weekends required) will be offered 1:00 – 2:15 – third period only.
