Spring Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course:

Worth Ranch

Virtual Session: April 19, 2026

Sunday - 2 PM to 4 PM

Field Session: April 25 - 26, 2026

Saturday - 8 AM to 6 PM, Sunday - 8 AM to 12 PM

Registration closes April 10, 2026

Virtual Session:

The Virtual Session (Zoom) will cover introductory Leave No Trace presentations for the course. Participants will be assigned a Leave No Trace topic that they will plan and teach during the Field Session.  A portion of the session will be used in preparing participants for the Field Session.

Field Session:

Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course (Adults 18+)

The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor course is a 16-hour overnight experience providing participants with certification as a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor with training skills for Unit, District and Council Level Trainings. Graduates will fully meet Scouting America's “Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor” National Camp Standard. An enriched understanding of Leave No Trace Principles and practices, expanded repertoire of low-impact skills, and increased effectiveness in teaching these important concepts to others. Participants must give an assigned 10-15-minute presentation during the Field session.

Recommended for adult Scouters in Unit Leadership, including Outdoor Ethics Guides (adult advisers), OA Leadership (adults), and training staff (Wood Badge, IOLS, BALOO, Day Camp and Summer camp).

Graduates will receive a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor eCertification and Level 1 Instructor Recognition (Training Code D78).

General Information:

Participants must attend both the Virtual and Field Sessions.

Meals (we’ll discuss dietary restrictions, as needed):

Saturday breakfast - eat before you arrive.

Saturday lunch - bring a sack lunch

Saturday Dinner – provided, but participants will cook and clean-up using Leave No Trace principles.

Sunday breakfast – provided, but participants will cook and clean-up using Leave No Trace principles.

Camping will be available Friday night, if needed, but you will be on your own for food.

Camping will be available Saturday night.

Participant Requirements

Must have a current Scouting America membership.

Must have current Safeguarding Youth and Hazardous Weather trainings completed.

Scouting America Medical Form parts A & B.

Complete a 10 to 15 minute presentation/activity during the field session (assigned during the Virtual Session).

Bring a sack lunch and snack.
