Spring Leave No Trace Trainings – Course Options:
Course 1: Sid Richardson Scout Ranch

Training Track: Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course (Adults 18+)

Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course (Adults 18+)

Virtual Sessions:
The Virtual Session (Zoom) will cover introductory Leave No Trace presentations for the course. Training track participants will be assigned a Leave No Trace topic that they will plan and teach during the Field Session. A portion of the session will be used in preparing participants for the Field Session.
Field Sessions:
Training Track: Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course (Adults 18+)
The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor course is a 16-hour overnight experience providing participants with certification as a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor with training skills for Unit, District and Council Level Trainings. Graduates will fully meet BSA “Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor” National Camp Standard. An enriched understanding of Leave No Trace Principles and practices, expanded repertoire of low-impact skills, and increased effectiveness in teaching these important concepts to others. Participants must give an assigned 10-15-minute presentation during the Field session.
Recommended for adult Scouters in Unit Leadership, including Outdoor Ethics Guides (adult advisers), OA Leadership (adults), and training staff (Wood Badge, IOLS, BALOO, Day Camp and Summer camp).
Graduates will receive a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructors Packet and Level 1 Instructor Recognition (Training Code D78).
Recreational Track: Leave No trace Skills Course (Youth 14 - 17 and Adults 18+)
Leave No Trace Skills Course is a 16-hour overnight experience where participants will learn the Principles and Ethics of Leave No Trace, Leave No Trace Skills, techniques, understanding and practice and a general overview of the national Leave No Trace Program.
Recommended for youth and adult Scout Leaders: Unit Leadership, including Outdoor Ethics Guides, OA Leadership (youth & adults), Training Staff (Wood Badge, NYLT, IOLS and BALOO), Den Chiefs, Camp Staff. This course is a requirement for the National Medal for Outdoor Achievement.
Graduates will receive a Leave No Trace Level Training Materials and Training Recognition (Training Code D84).

Participants must attend both the Virtual and Field Sessions.
Meals (we’ll discuss dietary restrictions, as needed):
Saturday breakfast - eat before you arrive.
Saturday lunch - bring a sack lunch
Saturday Dinner – provided
Sunday breakfast – provided, but participants will plan, cook and clean-up using Leave No Trace principles.
Camping will be available Friday night, if needed, but you will be on your own for food and we must be able to accommodate YPT.
Participant Requirements:
Must have a current BSA membership.
Must have current YPT and Hazardous Weather completion.
BSA Medical Form A & B.
Complete a 10 minutes presentation/activity during the training track's field session (assigned during the Virtual Session).
Bring a sack lunch & snack.
