The Longhorn Council invites interested volunteers to learn how to recruit new youth and families or re-invite families that are no longer participating by attending our Fall Recruitment Workshop. This workshop will be helpful to both seasoned volunteers and brand new volunteers. Across Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, or Exploring, membership growth is essential to the sustainability of your program. Recruiting families and youth also opens the door for new volunteers to support your units.

Join us on April 25th to learn from other volunteers and prepare to have a successful Fall Recruitment Campaign. All members of the Longhorn Council are part of the membership committee! We want to ensure that you all are equipped with the supplies, training, and resources needed to invite youth and families to join your life-changing program.

The Ambition of the Longhorn Council is to be a partner with parents and the community for instilling strong values, character, and leadership skills in our youth. To accomplish our ambition, we will:

Provide access to potential new and returning youth, families, and communities through council, district, and unit activities as ALL events can be opportunities to invite new and welcome returning families and youth to participate. As an inclusive organization, membership growth is a year-round focus.

Provide robust and inclusive programs where youth and families invite their friends to participate.

Strengthen relationships with families, units, chartered partners, and community stakeholders who support the mission, vision, and growth of the Longhorn Council.

Retain the existing youth in the Longhorn Council at a pace higher than the national Boy Scouts of America average by providing programming consistent with the needs of our communities.

Increase the number of youth and families participating in Longhorn Council units at a pace higher than our community growth rate and provide access to individuals and families who may or may not have the opportunity to participate through community outreach.

Grow the number of units in the Longhorn Council to serve the needs of youth, families, and our communities.
