Attention Female Scouts!

Join us for an exciting conservation-themed weekend of camping with opportunities to earn merit badges and participate in a service project!

Outdoor Skills Academy is returning this fall to the Sinquefield Reserve.

OSA, which is female for bear, is a female centric event. 

Female scouts will have the opportunity to camp and begin work on the the BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award that includes requirements for multiple merit badges such as Soil and Water Conservation, Fish and Wildlife Management, Sustainability, and Forestry. Each participant will also receive event beads and a program booklet. 

The conservation project will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to lunch with merit badge sessions from lunch until 5:00 PM. 
*Several merit badges have prerequisites that need to be completed before the event in order to complete the Merit Badge that day. Anyone who does not complete the prerequisites will receive partial blue cards.

Registration Fee is $20 for scouts and $15 for Adults.

(Dinner in included with the registration fee)
 

Camping is optional, but encouraged to foster inter- troop connections.

All program will be Saturday.

Scouts BSA

1. Be a First Class Scout.
2. Earn the following five Merit Badges:
  • Environmental Science
  • Fish and Wildlife Management
  • Forestry
  • Soil and Water Conservation
  • Sustainability.
3. Earn any two of the following Merit Badges:
  • Bird Study
  • Energy
  • Fishing
  • FlyFishing
  • Gardening
  • Geology
  • Insect Study
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Mammal Study
  • Nature
  • Nuclear Science
  • Oceanography
  • Plant Science
  • Pulp and Paper
  • Reptile and Amphibian Study, or Weather.
4. Plan, lead and carry out two conservation projects, from two different categories (Categories listed below). The projects must be developed under the  guidance  and  preapproval  of  the  Scout’s Unit  Leader,  a BSA Distinguished  Conservation  Service Award Adviser and the Council Conservation Committee. One of the projects may include the  Scout’s Eagle Scout, Venturing Summit Award, or Sea Scout Quartermaster project, if applicable.  All  projects  must  contribute  to  environment  improvement  on  a  longterm scale.  Applicants must use the BSA  Distinguished Conservation Service Award Workbook to document each of the service projects.

5. Successfully pass a board of review conducted by the local Council’s Conservation Committee.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Event Coordinators reserve the right to postpone or cancel an event if registrations are insufficient to cover the event expenses up to five days prior to the event. If an event is postponed or canceled, the registrant will have an option to receive a full refund or transfer fees to a future or different event. 

In the event a participant or unit must cancel, you must inform GRC of your inability to attend no less than 7 days prior to the event. 

All refund requests must be submitted to the Council office via this online portal, or via the paper refund request form, no later than 7 days following the event
(The request must be made prior to unit check-out for summer camp requests). 

A unit leader, scout, or parent, may request a refund of fees under the following conditions only:
♦  Illness or serious accident prevents the scout from attending the event.
♦  Family illness or emergency prevents the scout from attending the event.
♦  The event has been canceled or postponed by the event coordinator.
♦  Other situations deemed permissible by the event coordinator.

If a refund is approved, a 25% readiness fee will be deducted.
Opting for the refund to be credited to your unit shop account (for GRC units only) will reduce the readiness fee to 15%.


The final approved amount is decided by the team.

Scouts Summer and Cub Resident Camps also have a non-refundable per person deposit, and any additional activity fees are non-refundable.
