Event Details

Hiawathaland Spring Camporee

May 17,18,19 

Brasswire Campground.  Located between Negaunee and Ishpeming.

Search and Rescue theme with the opportunity to earn the Search and Rescue MB.

Use your Orienteering skills to travel as a patrol from station to station.  Bring at least one compass per patrol. 

There will be a Night Compass Course for experienced Orienteers.

The Jim Barr traveling trophy for the Top Scout Troop in the U.P. will be up for grabs. Plus unique plaques for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Overall.

Troops are to plan and bring their own meals for the weekend.  None are provided.  

Cost: $15 Youth, Adults, & Staff.

Webelos/Arrow of Light Scouts are welcome to attend with an adult on Saturday.  Cost is $10 each. Webelos Scouts can earn the 1st Responder Adventure during the day on Saturday.  Please bring your own snacks/food for the day, or link up with a Troop ahead of time for meals.

Reminder: All adults staying overnight on the property must be Registered Adult Leaders with the Boy Scouts of America and have completed the required Youth Protection Training within two years of the last day of the last session for which you register.

Thank-You for registering for the Spring Camporee, and if you haven’t yet, you still have time. Be Prepared to have an awesome weekend.

Webelos Cubs, with an adult, will have the opportunity to earn the First Responders Pin on Saturday. Scouts will have opportunities to complete many of the Tenderfoot & 2nd Class First Aid Requirements, 2nd Class and 1st Class Navigation requirements, and the Search&Rescue Merit Badge.

Activities

Service Project – The Campsite registration fees are waived by the Troops helping to pick- up/rake-out the Campground for their upcoming season. Service Hours are calculated by the Troop’s Leadership.

Points Activities -- Points earned throughout the day on Saturday, determine the Camporee Awards and the Jim Barr Traveling Trophy winner.

Patrols Leadership Participation Cooperation Attitude Enthusiasm

Successful completion of the Compass Course. Additional Courses can be attempted.

Night Compass Course – Each Troop can enter one 3 scout team to compete in the Night Compass Course. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places will be awarded. This is a stand alone event which is not considered towards the Camporee Awards or the Jim Barr Traveling Trophy.

WE ARE IN NEED OF THE FOLLOWING:

Bugler Youth preferred, Trumpet Player acceptable.

Events Judges Campsite Inspections First Aid Station Orienteering Station

Compass Course Mentors Accompany a Patrol to their first station to reinforce route finding skills.

Dutch Oven Desserts Judges

Scouts Own Scouts who have earned a religious award to read a part of the Scouts Own.
