Pre-Camp Set-Up Days

Who: Adult volunteers and adult camp staff are invited to come join us for a few days of Pre-Camp Set-Up!

When: 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 6th through 10:00 AM Friday, June 9th. Come for all or part of these days!

Where: Bear Paw Scout Camp

What: We need help with the extensive physical set-up and deep cleaning of Program Areas, Services Areas, and Staff Housing which must occur each year prior to the start of Summer Camp. The Arrrowmen of the Kon Wapos Lodge will be generously performing much of the needed pre-camp set up during their Spring Conference at Bear Paw Scout Camp, Friday June 2nd through Sunday June 4th. However, in addition to their cheerful service, there will be plenty of pre-camp set-up and cleaning tasks left to do BEFORE Staff Week begins on June 10th.

Why: Holding a Pre-Camp Set-Up event allows us to spend more of Staff Week (June 10th-15th) training our staff and teambuilding rather than completing physical camp set-up tasks.Senior Camp Staff, Camp Masters, adult Camp Engineers, or other adult volunteers who love our Bay-Lakes Council Camps and have the availability to attend, are encouraged to come and help. While Senior Camp Staff are strongly encouraged to attend, it is not a requirement of your employment, and your participation is voluntary. However, your assistance these three days, helps ensure our young staff members have ample training opportunities during Staff Week to build the strong camaraderie and customer service skills required to deliver a world class camping experience to our customers. If you're available for all or part of these four days, please register for what you can. Together, we can make sure camp is ready for our staff to move in on Saturday June 10th and spend the following week focused on becoming the best camp staff they can!  

Cost: $0

Meals and Housing: We expect a small but dedicated group of volunteers at this event, so we anticipate accommodating everyone in the indoor housing options on the property. The registration includes opportunities for you to indicate which meals we should plan on feeding you and which nights you'll need a bunk. While we are not charging anyone anything for this event, there will be costs associated with feeding and housing everyone who attends. To that end, we ask that you kindly indicate as accurately as possible which meals you plan on attending and which nights you'll need sleeping accommodations. Thanks, this will help us plan better and keep costs as low as possible while ensuring our volunteers are well fed and comfortable. 

What to Bring:

• Cheerful Attitude.
• Parts A & B of the BSA Health Forms.
• Sleeping gear (sleeping bag, pillow, sheets, blankets, etc.),
• Closed-toe boots or shoes.
• Weather-appropriate work-clothing you are not afraid to potentially ruin while working on projects throughout camp.
• Work gloves.
• PPE if you have made arrangements with Ranger Andy in advance to work on projects which would require safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, etc. 
• Bathing Suit and water shoes if willing to help set-up aquatics area (anchor docks, launch rowboats, etc).
• Towel.
• Toiletries, medications, glasses, contacts, etc. 
• Water Bottle.
• Sunscreen.
• Bug Spray (the ticks are thick this year).
• At least one set of clothes you would be comfortable wearing at a local restaurant (nothing fancy).
• If you are a Program Area Director on Camp Staff, PLEASE come prepared with a good idea of how you want your program area set-up...Know which merit badges your staff will be facilitating and the material supplies needs you'll likely have.
