Kettle Country District Klondike
KLONDIKE DEAD MULE TRAIL
When: Saturday Feb 6, 2021 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Where: Jansen Family Park - 3745 Schuster Drive, West Bend, WI 53090
Join us for the 500 plus mile journey to Dawson City situated on the Yukon and Klondike River which is located in the Klondike.
As Klondikers, you can choose to follow either the Chilkoot or the White Pass (Dead Mule) trails for about 30 miles to Bennett on Lake Bennett. From here you will need to build your own raft and sail down to the Yukon River for about 500 miles to Dawson City.
As you trek through mountainous terrain, cold climate and navigating the river, this means for those who seek gold and fortune will face many obstacles and if you complete the trek you will be rewarded with GOLD!!!
Join us for the Kettle Country’s “Dead Mule Trail” Klondike Derby and see if you can:
Protect your food from breaking during the long trek
Build a raft to get across the unfrozen Klondike River
Estimate distances to the next trail point
Test your Klondike knowledge (download and read the Klondike Trivia pdf file)
Help a fallen klondiker
Setup shelter during a white out
And race your fellow Klondikers to Dawson City
This year we will be requiring that each participant (Scout, leader, adult, volunteer, etc) fill out and turn in at check in "the Council COVID Event Screening Sheet”. The form is attached and downloadable on the registration site.
We will be asking all participants, volunteers and observers to wear masks during all Klondike activities and transitions. This is for the protection of our volunteers at each station as well as for protection during interaction with our fellow Scouters.
