Arctic Adventure

Event Details

Arctic Adventure is open to Venturers and older Scouts, BSA and is held at Gardner Dam Scout Camp. Leaders and parents are welcome to participate. Attend as an individual or bring a group from your unit. Trained and experienced staff will provide leadership, instruction and supervision. Your adventure is based out of a cozy cabin lodge with fireplace. The Wausau Homes Adventure Lodge includes bunk rooms and warm showers. You'll have the opportunity to experience winter skills of the northwoods. You can try snowshoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing, winter games, snow sculpturing or maybe you'll build a quinzhee snow shelter. If you want to focus on winter camping skills, you can participate in the Okpik program.  Prior winter camping experience is recommended but not required for the Okpik program.  There will also be indoor projects like making fleece garments and constructing your own pair of snowshoes to take home. Hearty meals will be provided for participants. Relax with other Scouts and Venturers to share stories of your adventures, play games or watch a movie. There will be something for everyone.  Participants will need to bring a completed physical form, personal clothing, bedding and a smile.  A checklist will be sent to those registered.
