Wood Cutters Weekend
Camp Indian Trails is in need of your help. Throughout the course of our Wisconsin winters we tend to burn a lot wood to keep the cabins warm for the Scouts that are utilizing CIT to their advantage. The task of keeping up with the demand is becoming more and more challenging as we have more Units camping with us than ever before.
In 2017 we are looking to utilize our immense volunteer manpower and establish both a Spring and Fall Wood Cutters Weekend. We are looking for help on March 25th to cut, split, and haul wood at Camp Indian Trails. If you wish to man one of the chainsaws we will be providing training for those that need it, you must be 18 years of age or older. We will start work at 9 am on that Saturday and then we will break at Noon for Lunch. Work will resume at 1 and go till 3, at which time we will begin cleaning up our sites and making sure all tools are put away.
Anyone helping out will have a lunch provided and there is a free camping option for the weekend to thank you for your time. You would be welcome to check in Friday evening and stay thru Sunday morning. To guarantee accommodations and an accurate head count for lunch we ask that you pre-register either online or with Callie at the Madison Service Center.
Anyone who comes should bring their own safety equipment as camp supplies are limited:
- Gloves
- Hearing protection
- Sturdy/durable clothes
Any one running a saw will also need
- Hard hat
- Eye or face protection
- Kevlar pants or chaps
- Boots
I thank you for your time in helping Camp Indian Trails If you have any questions or would like to sign up for sawyer training or camping please contact me Bob Broomfield, Ranger at (810) 513-3350.
