Event Details
SBackpack Camporee 2019

April 26-28, 2019

We will host the annual Glacier’s Edge Council-wide Backpack Camporee at Indian Lake Park located in Cross Plains. This camporee will give scouts/scouters a chance to learn basic to advanced backpacking skills (water filtration, light weight stove usage and backpack food demonstration), basic to ultra- light equipment demonstrations, Leave No Trace camping, Wilderness First aid. There plenty of opportunity to have fun and it is encouraged to share your troop’s/crew’s adventures with other scouts/scouters. NEW for 2019 - Wilderness Canoe Trip Survival Skills, this will be taught the 1st 3 sessions of the day.

On-line Registration
When scheduling for sessions on-line, please try to sign up as patrols. Unfortunately, you will have to sign up each scout/adult per session for each hour. Each session hour will have a limit of 20 participants. If you find that you can’t sign up 1-2 individuals in your patrol that session, go ahead and sign up as many as you can and we will modify this at the SPL/SM meeting Friday night. If a session is full, consider using another hour for that session.

The Backpack Camporee is designed for Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews, please no Cub Scout packs
Your backpacking experience will include having your troop/crew set-up camp on Friday night and pack up/move to a different site on Saturday (this replicates many high adventure backpacking outing situations). Camp sites will have GPS coordinates, so if you have GPS units, feel free to bring them. A very limited supply of GPS units will be available for use.

Each unit is responsible for their own food. Bear bag policy for Troop/Crew food/smellables will be mandatory!
Start or finish working on their Backpack merit badge. The Backpacking merit badge is offered through an outpost program geared for older Scouts with some backpacking experience. The is would include attending previous BP camporees. this outpost activity takes an entire weekend to complete and is not offered in the hourly sessions on Saturday.
