Merit Badge Academy

Event Details

Hello everyone!

Please join us for the second annual Merit Badge Academy here at Deerfield High School. Bring your troop, patrols, and more to this Merit Badge Academy!

The cost is $10 per scout to attend both days. This means that a scout can earn up to two-three merit badges for $10 if he or she completes the prerequisites outlined below for each merit badge. The scout can also do one merit badge too. Leatherwork Merit Badge will have an additional $5 charge.

Bring your troop, patrols, and more to this Merit Badge Academy!

Please choose classes as the schedule allows. Each merit badge requires the scouts to attend two sessions with the exception of these:

(FULL DAY) - The scouts must attend the full day's badge in order to have a chance to complete the badge.

(ONE DAY) - Scouts who attend this type are going to be attending a merit badge that they will complete within the session that it is in.

(Group 1) & (Group 2) - Scouts who attend one group DO NOT need to attend the other group. For example, if Scout 'A' attends (Group 1), the scout DOES NOT need to attend (Group 2).

**PLEASE NOTE that when you sign up for any class that ISN'T AN ALL DAY CLASS. You are required to go to BOTH CLASSES on February 4th and 25th. For example: If you sign up for Scouting Heritage, since it is an all-day event on the 4th, you can just not attend February 25th if you don't want to attend. However, if you want to sign up for Citizenship in the World and Moviemaking, you HAVE to ATTEND both days and you can only do those merit badges. If you have complications or questions about this, please email scootkr@gmail.com and Oliver.Dupree@scouting.org.

Some example schedules can look like these:

Schedule:

February 4th: Nuclear Science and Public Speaking

February 25th: Nuclear Science and Public Speaking

(Please select both for both days, otherwise, scouts may not finish the Merit Badge and get a partial. This works because the scout chose two classes that do not interfere with each other.)

or

Schedule:

February 4th:  Collections

February 25th:  Environmental Science

(since they both are all-day merit badges, this WORKS!)

or

Schedule:

February 4th: Fingerprinting

February 25th: Leatherwork

(this works too because the scout is only doing the one merit badge in the morning and perhaps leaving.)

or

Schedule:

February 4th: XXXXXX (nothing)

February 25th: Engineering

(this works too because the scout is only doing the one merit badge in the later session.)

The cost is $10 per scout to attend both days. This means that a scout can earn up to two-three merit badges for $10 if he or she completes the prerequisites outlined below for each merit badge. The scout can also do one merit badge too as outlined above.

NOTE:

Please complete the merit badge prerequisites before your class begins to the best of your ability.

I hope you will join us in making this a historical merit badge clinic. If there is anything that is wrong as far as scheduling is concerned, please note we will try to contact you to try and fix it.
