Mountain Trail District Raingutter Regatta Race

Join us for a very special celebration for Veterans, combined with a boat race! In a Raingutter Regatta, sailboats built from kits and hand decorated are raced down a length of water-filled “rain gutters” powered by the Cub Scout using a pump or fan to blow the sail.

Each Cub Scout races in several heats, and the fastest time of all heats determines the winner. There will be first, second and third place awards and a special award for the most “Patriotic” boat voted on by the Veterans in attendance.

Activities will open with a flag ceremony, conducted by Veterans and the Scouts BSA Troop 128, before the race.  Awards will be given out at the end of the race, followed by a campfire and formal flag retirement ceremony.

• DATE: Friday, November 11th (Veterans Day)
• PLACE: Klug Hall found in the St. Vincent’s Church on 21 Rosary Road in New Martinsville.
• TIME: Flag Ceremony begins at 6:00pm
• TO BRING: Completed and decorated Raingutter Regatta boats (kits can be purchased at the Scout Shop)
• COST: $5 entry fee
• Must be registered by November 10 (11:59pm)
