National Scout Jamboree 2023
April 7, 2022: Mountaineer Area Council's contingent currently has a full troop of male Scouts and a full patrol of female Scouts. Any additional Scouts registering will be placed on a waitlist to accept when we have confirmed additional spots to fill. Scouts will be accepted off the waitlist in the order in which they registered.
General information: (all information subject to change as the BSA releases additional details)
The Mountaineer Area Council plans to send at least 2 troops to the 2023 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. A full troop will consist of up to 36 youth and 4 adults, but we may also be able to send a partial troop of 8-16 youth and 2-4 adults. Troops will be gender-specific for youth members (boy troop or girl troop). Additional spots will be opened if enough individuals register online.
youth requirement: Scouts attending must be a registered Scouts BSA or Venture Scout. Scouts must be at least 12 years old and First Class rank by the time of the contingent's departure. All Scouts must be younger than 18 for the duration of the trip and Venture Scouts must be younger than 21 for the duration of the trip.
adult requirement: Adults wishing to attend with the contingent must be currently registered in the Mountaineer Area Council, complete a Jamboree Adult Leader Application, be interviewed by the adult selection committee, and be approved by the Scout Executive.

location: Summit Bechtel Reserve, Glen Jean, WV
cost: $1,900 per person with the following payment schedule:
- $200 deposit at registration
- by June 1, 2022 - $300 payment due ($500 total)
- by September 1, 2022 - $400 payment due ($900 total)
- by December 1, 2022 - $300 payment due ($1,200 total)
- by February 1, 2023 - $300 payment due ($1,500 total)
- by May 1, 2023 (FINAL PAYMENT) - $400 payment due ($1,900 total)
Participant cost will include Jamboree fee, contingent transportation, 2 t-shirts, contingent hat, collectible and trader patches, patrol and troop equipment, insurance, and pre-event meetings. Participant expenses may include personal equipment, BSA uniforms, and spending money. A deposit of $200 will be required at the time of registration to secure youth spots.
