Mountaineer Area Council's Contingent National Scout Jamboree 2023 Theme:  Forward

General information:  (all information subject to change as the BSA releases additional details)

The Mountaineer Area Council plans to send 3 troops to the 2023 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.  Two boy troops (40 individuals each) and one girl troop (20 individuals) will be attending with each troop having at least four adult leaders.

youth requirement:  Scouts attending must be a registered Scouts BSA or Venture Scout.  Scouts must be at least 12 years old and strongly recommended to have earned First Class rank by the time of the contingent's departure.  All Scouts must be younger than 21 for the duration of the trip.

adult requirement:  Adults wishing to attend with the contingent must be currently registered in the Mountaineer Area Council, complete a Jamboree Adult Leader Application, be interviewed by the adult selection committee, and be approved by the Scout Executive.

location:  Summit Bechtel Reserve, Glen Jean, WV

*cost:  $1,900 per person with the following payment schedule:

• $200 deposit at registration
• by June 1, 2022 - $300 payment due ($500 total)
• by September 1, 2022 - $400 payment due ($900 total)
• by December 1, 2022 - $300 payment due ($1,200 total)
• by February 1, 2023 - $300 payment due ($1,500 total)
• by May 1, 2023 (FINAL PAYMENT) - $400 payment due ($1,900 total)

*Those who register for the National Jamboree through jamboree.scouting.org after October 31, 2022 will be assessed a $215 late fee (new total contingent fee of $2,115).

Participant cost will include Jamboree fee, contingent transportation, 2 t-shirts, contingent hat, collectible and trader patches, patrol and troop equipment, insurance, and pre-event meetings. Participant expenses may include personal equipment, BSA uniforms, and spending money.  A deposit of $200 will be required at the time of registration to secure youth spots.
