National Scout Jamboree 2021
"Face the Challenge"
The Mountaineer Area Council plans to send at least 1 troop to the 2021 National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. A troop will consist of up to 36 youth and 4 adults. Additional spots will be opened if enough individuals register online.
youth requirement: Scouts attending must be a registered Scouts BSA or Venture Scout. Scouts must be at least 12 years old and First Class rank by the time of the contingent's departure. All Scouts must be younger than 18 for the duration of the trip and Venture Scouts must be younger than 21 for the duration of the trip.
adult requirement: Adults wishing to attend with the contingent must be currently registered in the Mountaineer Area Council, complete a Jamboree Adult Leader Application, be interviewed by the adult selection committee, and be approved by the Scout Executive.
dates: July 21-30, 2021 (dates are tentative and will be confirmed when Jamboree dates are released)
location: Summit Bechtel Reserve, Glen Jean, WV
cost: $1,700 per person (will include Jamboree fee, contingent transportation, 2 t-shirts, contingent hat, collectible and trader patches, patrol and troop equipment, insurance, and pre-event meetings. Participant expenses may include personal equipment, BSA uniforms, and spending money. A deposit of $200 will be required at the time of registration to secure youth spots. The payment deadlines are as follows to keep spots secured:
- $200 deposit
- $300 ($500 total) due by 3/31/2020
- $300 ($800 total) due by 6/30/2020
- $300 ($1,100 total) due by 9/30/2020
- $300 ($1,400 total) due by 12/31/2020
- $300 ($1,700 total) due by 3/31/2021
