Winter Adventure Hikes! 
Find a Grinch!

Organized by: Cheat District & Cub Scout Pack 52

Come out to Camp Mountaineer as a unit, den, patrol or family to participate in either the Cub Scout two-mile hike or the Scouts BSA orienteering activity. 

After your hike, enjoy some hot cocoa and cookies at the Dining Hall,
make a commemorative ornament and stop by the Trading Post for any last-minute holiday Scouting gifts.

WHO: Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA 

WHEN: Saturday, December 10, 2022.

• Cub Scout hikes will depart every hour beginning at 9:00 AM.

• Scouts BSA hikes will depart at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. 

• Scouts are encouraged to sign-up for the same departure time as others from their unit. 

WHERE: Camp Mountaineer!
Park in the upper parking lot, and check-in at the Welcome Center. Cars will remain in the upper parking lot. 

COST: $8 per Scout until November 25. $12 per Scout until December 2.  
We are also asking each Scout to bring one or more new coloring books to be donated to WVU Medicine Children's Hospital. A Scout is helpful. 

REGISTRATION: Registration is open until 11:59PM on Friday, December 2, 2022. 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: 

The Cub Scout Adventure Hike will be a hike to find a Grinch! Unit leaders or parents will lead Scouts around camp armed with a map and initial clues as to where the next location you may be able to find a Grinch!

With the help of an adult leader or parent, Cub Scouts may be able to complete:

Tigers - Tigers in the Wild: 2, 3c, a

Wolves - Paws on the Path: 5, 6

Bears - Fur, Feathers, and Ferns: 1

Webelos - Webelos Walkabout: 4, 6, 7, 8
 

The Scouts BSA will take a hike with some orienteering aspects thrown in. 

With the help of their unit leaders, Scouts should be able to complete the following requirements:

Tenderfoot 5a-c

Second Class 3 a-d and 4

First Class 4a, 5a

Maps will be provided for both hikes. Scouts BSA should bring a compass. 

Pre-registration for specific time slots is required. Space is limited on each hiking group departure time. Post hike activities end at 5:00 p.m.
