Ever want advanced training in the art of wilderness first aid? The Mountaineer Area Council will be putting on this training following the Scouting America and ECSI Wilderness First Aid curriculum and certified through ECSI.

WHO:  older youth, adults, those needing it for high adventure bases or National Jamboree

WHEN:  April 25, 2026

• 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

WHERE:  Camp Mountaineer

• Address: 187 Camp Mountaineer Road, Morgantown

FEES: $90 Early-Bird (by April 4)   |   $100 Regular (after April 4)

• it is encouraged that troops pay some or all of the cost if the training is required for a trip being planned
• Lunch will be provided.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

• Prerequisite:  All participants MUST complete the online Wilderness First Aid Awareness Course (link to online course here) prior to arrival and provide completion certificate.  Online course costs approximately $40 beyond this weekend's fee.
• Scouting America Registration:  All participants must be currently registered in Scouting America.
• Safeguarding Youth Training:  All participants are required to be current on their Safeguarding Youth Training. This can be completed online prior to arrival online at www.My.Scouting.org. Please provide a copy of your completed SYT training certificate and bring to the event.
• Medical Form:  All participants must bring a copy of their Annual Health and Medical Record, Parts A & B. 

Wilderness First Aid training is required for contingents going to BSA High Adventure Bases, for contingents going to the National Scout Jamboree, and is recommended for all leaders who take groups into areas where emergency services are delayed. This course is intended for adults and older youth, assuming the ability to perform First Aid Merit Badge-level skills.

The cost of Wilderness First Aid classes can approach $500, but you can receive the skills training, the materials, lunch, and the certification for $140!  This is a great opportunity for local Scouts and leaders at a price that’s tough to pass up.  The certification is good for a two-year period.
