This training provides general knowledge of safe handling of firearms and instructing on a range. Cost includes training materials. Participants must be at least 18 years old and registered members of the Boy Scouts of America. Participants should bring pen, notepad, 3-ring binder, and BSA Health and Medical Record (Parts A & B). There will be no shooting required during the course as it's designed to familiarize students with the firearms and ammo you will be using once you attend the instructor course later. Opportunities to shoot will be provided outside the course time. All firearms and ammunition will be provided. Eye and ear protection will also be provided, but participants can bring their own if desired.
This training is a prerequisite to take NRA Instructor Training that will allow adults to assist in BSA range operations as a NRA-certified instructor. Instructor training will be conducted September 19-21, 2025 at Camp Mountaineer.

- Saturday, August 23, 8 AM - 6 PM
- Sunday, August 24, 8 AM - 12 PM
Cost: $85 (includes course materials, Saturday lunch, optional overnight accommodations)
Registration: Registration closes on Friday, August 1.
Prequisites:
- participants must be at least age 18
- participants must be currently registered in the BSA
- participants must bring a current BSA Annual Health & Medical Record (Parts A & B)
