Event Details

Cub Scout Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) Training

What Is It?
A 1-1/2 day overnight campout full of fun and learning to prepare Pack leaders to plan and carry out Cub-appropriate outdoor experiences. Food provided.

Why Should I Attend?
TO HAVE FUN IN A BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR SETTING!

The BALOO training sessions include hands-on demonstrations of the why and how of Cub Scout camping - planning, equipment, fire safety, stoves and lanterns, first aid and sanitation, nature hikes and games, meal preparation, overnight campsite selection and setup, and an evening campfire program. AT LEAST ONE BALOO-TRAINED LEADER IS A REQUIREMENT FOR ANY PACK OVERNIGHT EVENT.

When: Saturday - Sunday, September 9-10 2023
            Check-in: 8:00 a.m. Saturday
            Check-out: 12:00 p.m. Sunday

How to prepare: 

Take the Online component before attending: The online portion of BALOO is available 24/7 at your my.scouting.org on the BSA Learn Center. It contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training. This training can be done through your my.scouting.org training account.

Need directions?  Once logged on to your my.scouting.org, go to: My Dashboard; then My Training; then Training Center; then Expanded Learning (includes Hazardous Weather); then BALOO. Please complete all the BALOO Prerequisite Training modules prior to your arrival at camp.

Things to bring:

Yourself
Your camping gear, including eating utensils
Your online prerequisite training certificate
Your BSA Annual Health and Medical Form, Parts A and B only. 

Pacific Harbors Council - Cancellation Policy

All cancellations and/or refund requests for activities should be submitted in writing to the Creighton Scout Service Center at 4802 South 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98405, or emailed to PHC@scouting.org within 72 hours after the event.  The council is the final decision authority for all refunds.
