Preparing for High Adventures

Event Details

Do you want to get your Troop or Crew “High-Adventure Ready”?
This online seminar will explore what High Adventure programming entails and introduce the National High Adventure camp programs available to you.

In addition—and perhaps more importantly—we will share examples of unit-sponsored adventures here in the Pacific Northwest, including backcountry travel, mountaineering and rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and sea kayaking.

Don’t have the experience, training, or gear to make some of these adventures happen for your unit? No problem! The Center for Adventure Leadership (CAL) can help. Our technical skills training, leadership development, and ongoing coaching will support you in planning and pursuing the right adventure for your experience level. We’ll walk with you every step of the way on your path to new skills and confidence.

Presented by Dale Rae, the president of CAL, a non-profit company based in the Seattle area.  He and his team are made up of current and former scouters who have "been there and done that".

Is this a Scouting America event?
No, this is not a Scouting America event, although many scout troops choose to participate. A scout council may choose to run multi-troop events using paid or volunteer staff. Doing this triggers the National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), which absorbs some organizational/leadership responsibilities from troop leadership and volunteers, such as Camporees and Klondikes. This is not one of these events; it is an independent event that your troop may attend..
