2026 Archery Level 1 Instructor Practical Course

Join us at Pacific Harbors Council’s Camp Thunderbird for an exciting opportunity to earn your USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification! This course is open to all Scouting America participants seeking Level 1 (L1) certification, the required qualification to serve as a Range Safety Officer or Basic Archery Instructor at Scouting America camps.
During this hands-on training, participants will build a solid foundation in safe and effective archery instruction. The Level 1 curriculum includes:
- Range safety and range setup
- Steps of shooting and fundamentals of technique
- Archery equipment, maintenance, and basic repairs
- Program development and lesson planning
- Practical skills, knowledge, and attitude essential for confidently operating an archery range
This practical course is offered after the completion of the USA Archery Level 1 online training.
To qualify for full certification, participants must successfully complete the USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification Online Course prior to attending the in-person session.
Once the online portion is finished, you’re ready to join us at Camp Thunderbird for the hands-on training required to earn your complete L1 Instructor Certification.
Please Note: Completion of this training authorizes participants to assist with district- and council-level Range and Target Activities (RATA) events. In accordance with the Guide to Safe Scouting, this certification does not permit individuals to conduct RATA activities at the pack level.
