2025 Camp Grizzly Summer Camp

Event Details

CAMP GRIZZLY
Since 1938, Camp Grizzly has been the home to amazing summer adventures for many Scouts and Leaders and helped to shape thousands of scouts into amazing young people!  Nestled in the edge of the Hoodoo Mountains, Camp Grizzly is home to a fantastic shooting sports program including six different ranges.  In the Eagles Nest, new scouts will spend two full days learning scout through first class skills and the ins and outs of the scouting program.  Your scouts will return to their troop each evening thoroughly fired up about scouting and their acheivements!  Our Tradescraft program features metalworking and welding merit badges, giving your older scouts the opportunity to explore potential lucrative careers.   Camp Grizzly has a proud tradition of unit service and great programs.  Your unit will have an exciting week that balances opportunities to earn merit badges and to work together as a troop and in patrols with service project opportunities and our mid-week patrol games and competitions.

LOCATION
Nestled in the edge of the Hoodoo Mountain range in Idaho, Camp Grizzly is located along the Palouse River, 12 miles East of Potlatch, ID.  We enjoy warm and dry days during the summer season and cool nights.  Daytime temperatures in late July average around 82°F and nights average at 54°F with temperatures dropping swiftly once the sun sets.  Our small lake is perfectly sized for younger scouts to complete their boating merit badges and the water is pleasantly cool and refreshing!  Every program area and campsite has shade shelters and trails between areas wind through our regrowing forest.  Each campsite has canvas tents on platforms and an adirondak that sleeps 8 as well as a campfire ring, picnic tables and kybos.  Program areas are spread across less than a half mile with the majority within just 1/4 mile, allowing scoutmasters ample opportunity to visit and observe all of their scouts in their classes during the week.  Several program areas are observable from the deck of our lodge where scoutmasters can enjoy a quiet cup of coffee, observe the early morning polar plunge and watch the sun rise over the lake or enjoy their scouts' glee while they capsize boats for their merit badge classes!

Planning your Trip

An updated Leaders Guide will be released in December.  While there will be some minor updates, troops who are doing their planning right now are welcome to use the 2024 Leader's Guide to begin.  The final list of merit badges and schedule of classes is currently in development and we plan to have class registration open in March.  To register for classes, you must be fully paid up per the payment schedule.  A Leader Meeting will be scheduled in March and recorded for later viewing.  Don't hesitate to get in touch with Margaret Parsley, our Program Executive and Camp Director, with any questions we haven't answered with our currently available guide.

**The Per-Youth deposit is non-refundable**
This guarantees slots for youth in your troop (even if the youth coming to camp changes) so please confirm your youth counts as early as possible as this will not be refunded for any reason. Additional youth can be added to your reservation at any time up to two weeks before camp as long as space is available; however, once you have secured a youth slot we will turn away new Troops in favor of your reservation if the camp is full.
