Saturday Rifle Shooting
Rifle Shooting is an all-day badge located at the Range. There is no opportunity to attend any other badges on Saturday. Scouts should expect to complete the badge. Because this event is separate, there is a cost of $10 per Scout because lunch is not included.
Scouts must register on the NRA Website, linked here: https://www.nrainstructors.org/CourseDetails.aspx?Courseid=898705
Wear comfortable clothing and be aware that some of the class will be outside, so be prepared for the weather. All materials, firearms, ear/eye protection, and ammo are included. Bring a lunch, water bottle, snack, notebook and writing utensil, and any work that you have done to prepare for the badge. Parents are welcome to stay.
Here is the preliminary time schedule. There will be breaks during the classes as needed so Scouts can stretch and use the bathrooms.

***Citizenship in Society Prerequisites:
• Due to mature subject matter, we suggest that Scouts be 14+ and at least Star rank. This is not a requirement however, all Scouts are allowed to participate in the badge class.
• Scouts must work on all the requirements of the merit badge before coming to the meeting because they must discuss them with other Scouts and the counselor during the event.

The new merit badge encourages Scouts to explore important topics around diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership and learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting.
The Scouts must:
• Learn key terminology
• Understand how diversity, equity, and inclusion relate to the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
• Evaluate scenarios to understand how they make others feel and how each person can serve as a supportive and inclusive leader who values others’ thoughts and opinions.
• Collaborate with a Scout or youth from a different background to exchange information and experiences.
• Brainstorm how to optimize the welcoming environment of their Scouting units and actions they personally commit to taking.
Unlike other merit badges, there is no Citizenship in Society merit badge pamphlet. It will require a Scout to do their own research and to dig as deeply and as detailed as the Scout desires.
The counselor is to serve as a facilitator or mediator. The counselor will not be providing Scouts with answers or resources, but will be engaging Scouts in conversation to ask about what they have learned and how they plan to apply their new knowledge to their life as a Scout and as a good citizen in society.
