Paddle Craft Safety

Paddle Craft Safety is Scouting America’s in-person training course that expands the basic Safety Afloat training to include the practical skills and knowledge needed for a unit leader to confidently supervise canoeing and kayaking trips on flat water.
The course is designed for registered Scouting America adults and older youth (typically age 15 or older) who will supervise or help lead canoeing and kayaking activities for units, camps, or high‑adventure trips. Its goal is to help leaders assess their own readiness, understand Scouting aquatics policies, and run safer, more effective paddle outings. Paddle Craft Safety is recommended for units planning canoeing or kayaking treks, aquatics merit badges, or high‑adventure paddling programs.
Successful completion is valid for three years.
