Our council is again participating in a World Scouting event known as Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). This event will take place Saturday, October 19. This weekend in October is always set aside to allow Scouts of all ages and nationalities to connect and learn more about their counterparts in other countries as well as those in other areas of their own Scouting organization through the use of ham radios.

The council hosts this event to allow our Cub Scouts an opportunity to learn about ham radios. Radio broadcast will begin Saturday at 10 am and last until 3 pm with other activities. We will also have MAT-SAR K9 Search & Rescue teams demonstrating and other activities are in the works!

This year MARA (Matanuska Amateur Radio Association), our longtime JOTA partner, will be broadcasting using mobile units. Please report to their table in the Dining Hall 5 minutes before your registered radio time.

Meals will be the responsibility of the Scouts attending. Light snacks will be provided.
