BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Training: April 9-10, 2021
BALOO is REQUIRED TRAINING for all Cub Scout Packs that would like to do Overnight Camping as a part of their Pack activities. A minimum of one adult must be BALOO Trained on a Pack overnighter.
BALOO now consists of two components: online and hands-on. You’ll need to complete both - in order - to qualify as a “Trained” Cub Scout outdoor leader.
1. Online component: The online portion of BALOO is available 24/7 on the BSA Learn Center.
It contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training. This training can be done through your my.scouting.org training account. Once logged on to your my.scouting.org, go to: My Dashboard; then My Training; then Training Center; then Expanded Learning (includes Hazardous Weather); then BALOO. Please complete all the BALOO Prerequisite Training modules prior to your arrival at camp.
The goal of the online portion is to make the best use of time to allow leaders to experience as much as possible during the practical hands-on training.
2. Practical, hands-on component: This 1.5-day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities.
3. Check-in begins at 6:30PM on Friday. Program begins promptly at 7:15PM. Class will end about 6:00PM on Saturday.
Please eat dinner before arriving at camp on Friday night (no evening meal will be offered). Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided on Saturday.
The suggested Packing List is attached.
