Event Details

Get ready for the next step in the Adventrue at AOL Outdoor Skills Weekend.

The AOL Outdoor Skills Weekend (AOLOS) is a special event for 5th grade Scouts that offers the opportunity to participate in activities designed specifically for them in a Scouts BSA Camp environment.

AOLOS is an organized event designed to introduce AoL Scouts and their parents to the fun of Scouting that occurs after. The day is filled with fun activities, advancement opportunities for the  Arrow of Lights, also provided will be plenty of outdoor excitement.

Registration by pack/den is encouraged through individual registrations are accepted for this event.

Traditionaly the majority of the program over the weekend is provided by Scouts BSA troops from the district/camp giving  AoL the opportunity to get a taste of the troop program they will soon be entering but also to interact with a number of troops and see the similarities and differences between troop programs.

Who is this program for?: AoL Dens, or individual scouts and Scouts BSA Troops

Cost: Registration for this event is $15 for AoL, $10 for Scouts BSA and $10 for Adults. The $10 Scout BSA and Adult charge covers a patch, facility use and some munchies for a Friday night cracker barrel! Late fee after October 4th of $5 per person!

Is food provided?: No, participants will need to plan to cook in their campsite.

Is there advancement: Typically Scouts may meet a requirement or two by “playing the game” but AOLOS is not an advancement centered activity.

What does the schedule for AOLOS look like?: AOLOS is pretty straight forward with check in Friday evening with time in campsites for AoL to spend time with a troop in their campsite. Saturday morning/afternoon are rotations of AoL moving from troop to troop at the event spending some time with each often doing a skill or activity the troop really loves to do. Then we pack up, have a closing flag ceremony and head home. Troops can stay Saturday evening as well if they wish to stay until Sunday morning, we ask for all units to be checked out of camp no later then 10AM Sunday.
