OA 2025 Spring Induction

PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR AN AMAZING WEEKEND OF SERVICE AND FELLOWSHIP!

Members of Wa-la-moot-kin Lodge and candidates, we invite you to join us at Spring Induction 2025, May 16 - 18 at Martin Scout Ranch.

Check-in begins at 6pm Friday night (please eat before you arrive - no dinner is provided Friday night)

BSA Medical forms A and B are required!!!

The event concludes at 11am Sunday.

The camp is up the McKay Creek draw south of Pendleton. Directions to this camp can be found at https://martinscoutranch.org

Please see below for information specific to your registration type:

  1. ORDEAL CANDIDATES:
    Congratulations on your election into our Order!
    To become an official member of the OA, you will need to complete your Ordeal. The purpose of the Ordeal is for you to rededicate yourself to the ideals of Scouting (Oath, Law, Motto, Slogan). You can attend either of the two Ordeal weekends planned for 2025 (May or October). 
    WHAT TO BRING:
    Do Not Bring Food (unless it is for a medical or religious necessity - clear with staff first)
    Do Not Bring Electronic devices. There is little to no cell phone coverage at MSR.


    For Friday Night/Saturday
    Class B/work-appropriate clothes
    Bed Roll (ground cloth/sleeping pad, sleeping bag, tarp)
    Flashlight/headlamp
    Weather-appropriate gear (don't get caught out in the rain and/or cold - BE PREPARED)
    Small Day Pack with:
       water bottle
       sunscreen
       work gloves
       bug spray (optional)

    Pack separately for Saturday Evening/Sunday
    Tent
    Full Class ‘A’ Uniform (without merit badge sash)
    Change of clothes
    Money for lodge trading post items (optional)
     
  2. BROTHERHOOD CANDIDATES
    Bring with you:
    a. Your OA Handbook
    b. A letter, addressed to the Lodge Vice Chief of Communications, in which you explain what you think the Obligation means, describe how you have been fulfilling the Obligation in your Unit and daily life, and specific plans for giving future service in the Lodge program.
    Also, work on memorizing the Obligation, Song of the Order, the Admonition, the OA handclasp, and the sign of Ordeal membership. (All of this can be found in your handbook.)

  3. CURRENT MEMBERS (youth and adult)
    Thank you for supporting Ordeal! We have planned an outstanding weekend of fellowship and service for you to enjoy. We hope it allows you to make new friendships, cement old ones, and reflect on your commitment to a life of servant leadership.

You must be current on your annual dues ($25) to register for Induction weekend. Meals will be provided, but feel free to bring snacks. Bring whatever equipment you wish to keep yourself comfortable, warm and dry. We will be camping in Elk and Confluence (staff only will be in the corral). Also bring cards, games, Magic Cards, etc, for the Friday and Saturday night fellowships, and think about songs or skits for the Saturday night campfire. If you collect patches, bring them for show or trading.
