Roy Murray Celebration of Life

Event Details

It is with profound sadness that we share that one of our own has passed away. Roy E. Murray, Sr. passed away on the morning of August 6 at the age of 85. Roy sat his Vigil in 1995 and was given the name Kittaptonen which translated means One Who Assures. Most Arrowmen knew Roy for his work helping with the kitchen crew and greeting everyone at the entry of the food line as he counted participants. Others knew him as the guy who helped keep the equipment in working order up at the maintenance shop. Roy was often found out at Camp helping out in one way or another, be it a formal service day or just because he had time that day and wanted to spend it helping out at Camp. For his sustained efforts, Roy was presented with the Founder's Award in 2010, a James E. West Fellowship in 2017, and the Service Recognition Award from both the Lodge Chief and Lodge Adviser in 2019, our lodge's centennial year.

Clearly Roy was a dedicated Scouter and Arrowman, and he will be dearly missed.

The Murray family is inviting you to a celebration of life and Broken Arrow Ceremony for Roy Murray on Sunday, September 9th at 1:00 PM at the OA Pavilion out at Camp T. Brady Saunders (1723 Maidens Rd., Maidens VA 23102). In order to ensure there is enough food, please RSVP using this online form.
