The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

The Battlefield District/Rivers District invites all Cub Scouts to a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. It will be at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Battlefield Post 9808 7168 Flag Lane, Mechanicsville, Virginia 23111. For GPS maps please use 7239 Brooking Way, Mechanicsville, Va 23111 for the Entrance to the VFW. 

As part of the sign up process. We are asking to know how many people are coming. What are the names of those that are coming and how many flags are you bringing to retire?

What is the Cost? There is no cost for this event.

If you are retiring a nylon or synthetic flag, please make sure to remove the metal grommets prior to retirement.
