Heroes Among Us:  A Tribute to Local Heroes

Heroes are all around us.  They are the everyday people who make extraordinary contributions to our community.  Whether they are:

• Veterans
• Soldiers
• Nurses
• School Teachers
• Firefighters
• Police Officers
• Paramedics
• Or someone else close to you.

Our goal is to display over 500 flags in honor of our heroes.  Each flag will be identified with a commemorative recognition tag.

Your sponsorship will support the Heart of Virginia Council in continuing to provide premier Scouting programs to 7,427 youth in Central Virginia.

Why support?

To support local Scouting units, camps, and activities the council must raise $400 per Scout each year.  The Heart of Virginia Council accomplishes this through camp card sales, popcorn and peanut sales, special events and generous donations from community supporters like you.  Your contribution will help provide essential resources to local Scouts across the 24 counties and 4 cities served by the Heart of Virginia Council.  Your support ensures that every youth has an opportunity to be a Scout, learn valuable life skills, build character, and make a positive impact on their Community.

How it works:

• Sponsor a Flag for $60
• Provide your hero's name
• Visit the park anytime during the week of July 1-8 to view your sponsored flag.
• You're invited to attend a flag retirement ceremony, on July 8th, at 6:30 PM at the VFW.
• Take home an engraved dog tag with your heroe's name at the flag retirement ceremony on July 8th or have it mailed to you.
• For an additional $30 each you may purchase the flag to be received at the conclusion of the display.
