Join us the weekend of March 7-9, 2025, to learn the foundation needed for COPE and Climbing instruction.
Students who successfully complete this training will be able to support a COPE Director (or Level 2 Instructor) in running COPE/Climbing sessions. In the process of learning, students will discover their personal leadership style, and learn techniques for developing reams. Students will also learn how to use games to motivate others in fun ways, enable their groups to become teams and never, ever, be bored.
Level 1 Training is a first step in learning techniques in team building. It is a prerequisite to Level 2 Instructor Training, where trainees will learn more technical aspects of designing the operation of a COPE course, and providing oversight (at least one Level 2 or Director must be on-site when a COPE course is being used).
Training is tailored for adults and mature youth (16 years and older).
Topics to be covered (but not limited to):
Dealing with Fear
Spotting
Safety Measures & Accident Prevention
Life Safety Systems
Climbing and Rappelling (Tower/Wall)
Pre-use Inspections and Reporting
Effective Teaching Using EDGE
