In-person Committee Member/Committee Chair Workshop!!!!
Who: ALL parents and leaders connected with the BSA, especially current and future Committee Chairs and Committee Members
Where: Heart of Virginia Council Leadership Center, 8090 Villa Park Drive, Henrico, VA 23228
When: February 24th from 8 AM to noon, registration opens at 7:30 AM
While designed primarily for current and future Pack, Troop, Crew, Post, and Ship Committee Chairs and Committee Members, ALL adults connected to a Scouts BSA unit are recommended and welcome to participate.
Attendees are encouraged, but NOT required to complete the on-line Committee Challenge (course WS10) to get the most out of the Workshop. For those who are not able to, the Workshop will satisfy the requirement for WS10, C60, WS12 (and beyond).
This Workshop will be interactive and discussion-based focused on sharing ideas, successes, and challenges. It will prepare participant to strengthen their units by leveraging the knowledge and experiences of instructors and fellow attendees.
Childcare, Water, Coffee and Snacks will be provided. Bring your own cup for drinks.

- Journey to Excellence (JTE, how to use it to plan and to continuously measure progress)
- Building a Committee (vital roles, roles that can be combined)
- Unit Annual Planning
- Adult Succession Planning
- Identifying, Recruiting and Developing adult leaders/contributors to your unit's success
Operate and Maintain Your Unit
- Recruiting and Retaining Scouts
- Helping all Scouts and adults to understand their Scouting Program and to be successful
- Fundraising, Finances and Budgeting
- Oversight of Unit Events
- Monthly Committee Meetings
- Adult Leaders’ Recognition
- Participation in District Roundtable meetings
- Webelos to Scouts transition
- Annual Rechartering
Tools, Support, and Communication
- Scoutbook (Advancement and far, far more maximizing the available tools, tips and tricks)
- HOVC Leadership Facilities and Staff
- Communications (email, Remind Text app, Facebook groups, recruitment, website, brochure, flyers)
