2024 5K Glow Trail Run and Kids 1-Miler

WALK-UP REGISTRATIONS AT THE CUB ADVENTURE CAMP WELCOME CENTER
WILL OPEN AT 5PM.  1-MILER REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 6:20PM,

and 5K REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 7PM ON 10/5/24

Check out this fall’s most exciting adventure yet, as we invite your whole family (and all your closest friends, neighbors, and race mates) to the 5K like no other. You don't have to be a Scout member to participate! As if Camp wasn't cool enough already, we decided to give it a GLOW UP! With fun glow-in-the-dark t-shirts, bracelets, and more, we’ll light up camp like never before.

Forget about those boring award ceremonies, we’re having a giant campfire program with S’mores! Our top 3 male and female racers in each age bracket will get an awesome award - 45 awards in all! Each Kids 1-Miler participant, 18 years of age and under, will receive an award and sticker at the finish line!

Race Shirts
Early registration includes one FREE glow-in-the-dark shirt per participant.  Additional shirts can be purchased for $20.  Race shirts are not guaranteed for participants who do not register online by our order deadline (September 1st) - a limited number of extras will be purchased.

Packet Pickup
Come visit us at the Heart of Virginia Council Leadership Center at 8090 Villa Park Drive in Henrico on October 2nd from 12pm to 3pm, and October 3rd from 4pm to 6pm to pick up your packets and t-shirts! Packets can also be picked up on the day of the race at our Cub Adventure Camp Welcome Center starting at 5pm.

Race Check In
Race check in begins at 5pm on the day of the race at the Cub Adventure Camp Welcome Center.  Packets can be picked up, and walk-up registrations will be available until 6:20pm for the Kids 1-Miler and 7:00pm for the 5K.

Race Timing
The 5K trail race is a chipped, timed race.  Bibs will be included at packet pick-up.  1-Miler participants will receive a bib; however, this race is not timed or chipped.  Timing is provided by Commonwealth Timing and Race Management.

Saturday Night Camping
Participants may register to camp overnight Saturday for $5 per camper (5 years and up).  Please see our Cub Adventure Camp Map - 5K and 1 Miler PDF for campsite details (in red).  You can easily include your night with us when you register for the race - simply add the number of "5K Campers" (5 and under are FREE) to your order!

Schedule of Events

4:00pm - 6:00pm: Campsite set-up (cars parked in main lot at Cub Adventure Camp by 6:00pm)

5:00pm - 7:00pm: Check-in at CAC Welcome Center for 1-Miler, 5k, campers, guests, all volunteers/spectators, walk-up registrations

6:30pm: Start of Kids 1-Miler at Cub Adventure Camp Handicraft Lodge

6:30pm - 7:00pm: use Sleepy Hollow to walk to T. Brady Saunders.  Start of the campfire program and campfire dinner.

7:12pm: Nightfall - all participants and guests, turn on your headlamps

7:20pm: Start of 5K Trail Race

8:20pm - 10:30pm: Campfire program and awards ceremony

10:30pm: last call to use Sleepy Hollow to return to Cub Adventure Camp for parking and camping

11:00pm: Lights out for campers


Sunday, 7:00am - 8:30am: Campers pack up and depart

Registrant Details
1-Miler Participant: receives an official race shirt, swag bag, and a s'mores kit for our campfire program!  All participants receive an award and official Kids 1-Miler sticker.

5K Participant: receives an official race shirt, swag bag, and a s'mores kit for our campfire program!  Unique LED race medals will be awarded to the top three finishers, male and female, in several age brackets.

Campfire Dinner: each campfire dinner includes a hot dog (kosher hot dogs available), drink, chips, and cookie.  Campfire Dinner passes and add-on items can be purchased at the Trading Post the night of the event for $4.00.

S'mores Kit: is perfect for spectators that also want to participate in the campfire program with s'mores!  S'mores Kits can be purchased at the Trading Post the night of the event for $5.00.

Swag & Advancement

As if you need another reason to join us on October 5th, fashion-forward participants will receive a limited-edition glow-in-the-dark t-shirt and a shot at one of our unique, exciting glow race medals! Plus, your Scouts can knock out program requirements while running, and parents can walk / jog / run the Kid's 1-Miler for free alongside their child.
