**Join Us for the Honoring Our Colors Flag Collection Drive at the Virginia War Memorial!**

Please attend in full field uniform.  Units are encouraged to tour the Virginia War Memorial while dropping off flags for retirement.

Are you ready to make a meaningful contribution to our nation's heritage and honor the symbol of our freedom? We invite you to participate in the "Honoring Our Colors" Flag Collection Drive, a special event created in partnership with Local Scout Troops. This unique opportunity allows Scouts to play an essential role in the proper retirement of worn American flags while gaining a deeper understanding of their significance.

**Event Highlights:**

1. **Flag Collection Drive:**  On June 29th, 2024, Scout Troops from the local community will gather at the Virginia War Memorial to contribute to the proper retirement of old and worn American flags between 9 AM and 4 PM. By collecting these flags, Scouts actively participate in preserving the integrity of this cherished symbol and paying homage to the values they represent.

2. **Educational Experience:** As part of the event, Scouts will have the chance to engage in an informative session about the history and significance of the American flag. They will learn about the proper protocols and procedures for retiring flags with dignity and respect. This educational experience aims to instill a sense of pride and responsibility in Scouts as custodians of our nation's symbols.

3. **Guided Tour:** Following the flag drop-off, Scouts will be treated to an exclusive guided tour of the Virginia War Memorial. This tour will provide them with a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by Virginians in service to our country. It's an opportunity to connect with history, gain insights into the Memorial's exhibits, and pay respects to the brave individuals who have defended our freedoms.
