Description: The Central Virginia Orienteering Club (CVOC) is presenting its Tenth Annual Orienteering Day. CVOC members, Scouts, and the public are welcome. No experience is necessary and instruction relative to compass and map basics can be provided.
The event is primarily directed at Scouts that need to complete a one-mile orienteering course, requiring measuring height and/or distance, for First Class rank. The event can also be used to satisfy part of Orienteering merit badge requirement 7. Scout registration is required.

Public floating start 11 AM to 1 PM. All participants back by 3 PM.
Cost: Free for Scouts and Adult Leaders; public $5/map if pre-registered; $7 day of event. These fees will be paid IN CASH, on-site prior to getting a map. Please bring exact change.
Format: There will be 3 courses:
- Two Beginner courses approximately 2k, done in linear fashion
- Score-O - Get as many of the controls as you can in 60 minutes, you choose your route
Registration is required for this activity. Please register here and then show up between 10 AM and 12 PM.
All Scouts should have a compass, whistle, and water while on a course An orienteering baseplate compass is strongly recommended, although we will have some to loan.
