The American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning course prepares participants to recognize and respond to first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. This course, presented by Outdoor Safety LLC and hosted by the Heart of Virginia Council (HOVC), is appropriate for individuals seeking workplace certification, volunteers, outdoor leaders, and anyone who wants to be prepared to respond to emergencies.
Training is delivered using a blended learning format, combining an online learning component with an in-person instructor-led skills session. The online portion must be completed prior to the class and typically requires 2–3 hours. During the in-person session, participants practice essential lifesaving skills including CPR for adults, children, and infants, AED use, and key first aid techniques through guided hands-on practice.
Upon successful completion of both the online and in-person components, participants receive a two-year American Red Cross digital certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, which meets OSHA workplace requirements for first aid and CPR training in most non-healthcare settings. This course is not Wilderness First Aid and does not meet the BSA High Adventure Wilderness First Aid requirement.
