Cub Scout Western Round-Up 2023

Event Details

This Cub Scout event is a Family Round-Up.
Families are encouraged to attend.

Bring your family tent(s), sleeping gear and plan for setting up within your den/pack area as a group. Scouts must be in a family tent with family members or in a tent on site. All Youth Protection guidelines must be maintained. It is encouraged that you will want to bring the items to cook over the camp fire including cast iron skillet, dutch oven, etc. There will be one evening meal where dens/packs will be required to prepare their evening meal at their camp location. Standard ingredients will be provided by the dining facility staff for the preparation of this meal. They can enter their prepared food in judging cookoff event in the category of appetizer, main course, side dish, or dessert. All other meals will be provided at the dining facility.

The theme of the camp is a Western Theme so scouts are encouraged to wear their western wear hats. There will likely be a little 2-steppin Social Event (Cracker Barrel), so bring those boots too for this single event.

Day 1 on the 27th of July will be focused on Webelos solely. There will be a TREK experience that will include some low-rope climb events, leader tasks, bear bag education, and general survival training.  Only Webelos should check-in July 27 and all other Cub Scouts check-in July 28.

Day 2-4 (28th-30th of July) is focused on all scouts. Programs that will be scheduled are low-rope course, water front, wood shop and crafting (Derby Car Rack Construction, candle making, Whittling Chip, leather stamping, etc), TREK and Outdoors Training, BB Gun range, archery, and slingshot, calf roping and knot tying, fireside, Cast Iron Cooking, and more…

We are planning for a small animal petting zoo hoping to be able to get all the scouts to the petting zoo.

God and Country will be our last and final event on Sunday morning after breakfast in which all scouts, families, and leaders are encouraged to attend.

Be sure to bring the attached Home Screening and Medical forms with you during event check-in.
