BALOO - basic adult leader outdoor orientation

bad weather make-up date - unknown at this time

Scouting America requires a Cub pack to have at least one BALOO-trained adult on every Cub Scout den or pack overnight outdoor event.  BALOO is a training course designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack program.  Any Cub Scout adult leader or parent who will go on Cub Scout Den or Pack outdoor events, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos Den overnighter camping, should take this training.

BALOO Training consist of two parts: (a) an online  pre-requisite component available on My.Scouting.org  (https://my.scouting.org) in addition to (b) in-person, hands-on training.  Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience.  Completion of this course by a minimum of one adult is required for a Pack overnighter.

The online training modules contain introductory and basic information to be built upon during the practical in-person training.  The online component must be completed prior to the in-person training experience.  For the prerequisite online training, go to  my.scouting.org ... select Training ... and search the catalog for "BALOO Prerequisite Training v2" (35 minutes) ... after completing this online training, print your certificate of completion and bring it with you to the in-person training.  If you have never visited this site before, you will need to click the "create account" button and then follow the instructions ... be sure to have your BSA membership ID number handy.
