Virtual Merit Badge - Veterinary Medicine

Join Andrew Silverstone DVM, MS for the virtual Veterinary Medicine Merit Badge! Dr. Silverstone founded the Veterinary Hospital of Virginia Beach in 2003. He is a Veteran of the United States Army Reserve, Veterinary Corps, and has experience working with pets, exotic pets, marine mammals, and zoo animals. He is one of only a few veterinarians to receive a Cancer Research Training Award from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. As a Post Doctoral Fellow, Dr. Silverstone was part of a team that studied and developed a cure for an inherited form of cancer in dogs. A similar cancer occurs is children and was always fatal until they developed this cure using bone marrow transplants.

There will be one teleconference session:
Thursday, June 4: 7 - 8 PM
There will also be an independent work component.
Prerequisites:
- Read the Veterinary Medicine merit badge book and be ready to be called on to answer questions.
- Requirement 6 (animal hospital visit) will not be possible during the session. Scouts may complete the visit independently or coordinate a visit with Dr. Silverstone once social distancing limitations are lifted.
