Spring Training Merit Badge Day 2026

Hosted by the Princess Anne District

The Princess Anne District invites all Scouting America leaders, parents, and volunteers to a full day of high-impact training at Kempsville Presbyterian Church for our Spring Training Day 2026. This year’s event brings together essential safety, leadership, Cub Scout, and trainer development courses designed to strengthen units, protect youth, and build confident, capable adult leaders.

Whether you are a brand-new volunteer or a seasoned Scouter, Spring Training Day gives you the tools, credentials, and confidence to better serve your Scouts and your unit.

Troop Scouts can pick from an awesome list of Cyber Security Themed Merit Badges & Courses : Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, Animation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Digital Technology, Drafting, Electricity, Electronics, Energy, Engineering, Game Design, Genealogy, Graphic Arts, Programming, Robotics

What You Can Take as an Adult : Choose from a powerful lineup of instructor-led courses, including:

Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED : A full professional-level certification course covering emergency response for both adults and youth. This is an all-day program broken into three sessions and includes CPR, AED use, bleeding control, and emergency care skills. A $25 fee applies for this nationally recognized certification

Cub Scout Rangemaster Training : Learn how to safely run BB gun and archery programs for Cub Scouts, including range setup, safety supervision, and best practices for delivering fun, compliant shooting sports activities

Den Chief Training : Designed for Scouts BSA youth serving as Den Chiefs, this course teaches leadership, communication, and how to effectively support Cub Scout dens and leaders

Troop & Pack Position Specific Training : These courses are designed to help Scouters learn how to effectively carry out their Scouting roles. In most cases, completing the course will make a Scouter “trained” for the role(s) covered in the course. Online and facilitated training is offered.

Understanding and Preventing Youth-on-Youth Abuse : A vital training that helps adult leaders recognize warning signs, prevent harmful situations, and create a safer environment for all Scouts

Craft of Training (formerly Trainer’s EDGE) : The official BSA trainer development course that teaches how to present engaging, effective training using proven teaching methods and adult learning principles

Spring Training Day is more than just checking boxes — it’s about becoming the leader your Scouts deserve.

You will:
  • Earn required and advanced certifications
  • Strengthen unit safety and compliance
  • Improve recruiting and retention
  • Build leadership and training skills
  • Network with fellow Scouters across the district

All courses are taught by experienced, council-approved instructors in a professional university learning environment.
