Albemarle Spring Camporee 2025

On-site registration will NOT BE ACCEPTED
A camporee is many things—camping fun for youth, the thumping of hundreds of feet on the way to an evening campfire, and the blue smoke from fires cooking stew or ham and eggs. It’s the ripple of wind-blown flags in the morning sun. It’s catching the idea of teamwork in a patrol. A camporee can be a perfect showplace for the Scouting program and, therefore, go far beyond just being a gathering of youth. A camporee starts with the recognition that a patrol is the basic camping unit. The patrol demonstrates its very best camping techniques and shares its experiences with other patrols. The camporee involves the type of equipment that can be carried in a pack by youth and can be set up entirely by them, allowing them to be completely self-sufficient for a self-reliant experience.
This year Albemarle District will hold its Spring Camporee April 04-06 at Camp Maple in Currituck County. This year’s theme is Cooking - Cookin' Up Somethin' Good. The Camporee will carryout competition-themed activities, awarding points earned by participating/completing assignments at stations that will utilize skills that can be obtained from the Scouting handbook as well as team-building skills.
In keeping with the camporee theme, each patrol/crew will submit the following mandatory food items prepared and cooked onsite at the unit's campsite on Saturday, at a minimum at least two scouts need to be involved in preparation/cooking, and at the unit's expense: one breakfast dish, one lunch dish, one dessert dish, and a patrol/crew choice dish for overall points awarded based on presentation, aesthetics, taste, and camporee SPL/ASPL and chairs' prowess. We hope that your Scouts are challenged while having fun.
Event stations can consist of life skills, technical skills, team-building skills, and personal skills. Please note that station availability may change due to lack of station coordinators and/or volunteers. We hope that your unit will have a fun and exciting Camporee experience.
Please register as early as possible so that we can plan accordingly. If you have any questions please contact camporee chair, ChetPaila Shaw at chetpaila@gmaill.com, or Albemarle District Executive, Christina Raymer at christina.raymer@scouting.org.
