Event Details

In the Scouting tradition of promoting camping and the scout motto, “Be Prepared”, this camporee will focus on scouting skills acquired in the journey to the rank of first class scout.  The skills learned in this journey enable a Scout to be prepared to take on life’s challenges and make wise decisions.

 

 When you recite the Scout Oath, you pledge to do your best to keep yourself physically strong. Accordingly, Scouts will participate in a personal fitness activity.  Learning first aid skills and knowing how to administer first aid to and injured or ill person is part of being a good citizen and putting into action the Scouting ideal of doing a “Good Turn.”  Scouts will have the opportunity to display their first aid skills at the first aid activity.  Knot tying is a true Scouting skill, Ropes and knots are at the heart of many Scouting activities.  In order to practice and display their rope and knot skills, a pioneering activity is included.  Navigating to and around camping sites, and while hiking, is basic to Scouting outdoor adventure.  In order to understand and learn to use these skills, an orienteering activity will be part of the camporee.  Knowing how to plan, prepare, and cook meals outdoors for your patrol is basic to camping.  A cooking activities station is included emphasize the importance of cooking in scouting.
