Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS)

Event Details

Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right. Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank.

Leaders participating in the Camporee will camp and eat with their units. Training will start Saturday after morning colors. Additional informational will be provided at the Friday leaders meeting.

You will need to bring Annual Medical Health Record parts A&B along with proof you have completed SCO_800 Hazardous Weather.

Every participant should bring writing materials and individual camping equipment as listed in the Scouts BSA Handbook. Please eat breakfast on Saturday before arriving. The lunch and dinner on Saturday along with breakfast and lunch on Sunday will be provided..

Along with Scoutmaster Specific, this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scout Troops in order to be considered “trained”.
