OD BALOO 2022
This one-and-a-half-day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO training consists of an online prerequisite component in addition to an overnight hands-on practical. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for a MINIMUM OF ONE adult on a Pack overnighter. Skills covered include outdoor ethics, campsite selection, nature & hiking, stoves & lanterns, fire building & safety, cooking & sanitation, basic knots, knife safety, first aid, duty to God-interfaith worship, program planning, flag ceremonies, & campfire program planning.
Prerequisites: Must be a registered leader, have current YPT, must bring Class A & B Health Form, & must complete BALOO Prerequisite Training v.2 at www.my.scouting.org.
What to bring: tent, personal camping gear, mess kit, camp chair. Wear a Field uniform.
