Graduates of this course receive certification as Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructors with training skills for both generic and Scouting audiences. Graduates fully meet "Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor" National Camp Standard. Graduates will have an enriched understanding of Leave No Trace Seven Principles and practices, expanded repertoire of low-impact skills, and increased effectiveness in teaching these important concepts to others.

Level 1 Instructors will be sharing the Leave No Trace message through teaching the BSA Leave No Trace Basics course, leading group awareness sessions, activities and workshops, and assisting individuals working on outdoor ethics awards.  Participants receive a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor pin, cathole trowel, handouts,  and other Leave No Trace promotional/training materials as might be available. Participants need to make a short presentation on a Leave No Trace topic in front of the other course participants.

The course is limited to Scouting adult volunteers (minimum age 18).  All faculty and participants will provide a current BSA Annual Health and Medical Record Parts A and B, be current in YPT, and registered in Scouting America.  Bring tent, personal gear as needed, mess kit, water container, and field chair.  Course will take place co-located with CVC NYLT and tenting will be in the adult staff area for the CVC NYLT course. Hard-shelter restrooms and shower facilities will be available.   Meals provided by NYLT Cook Staff.  Each course must have a minimum of 4 participants and is limited to a maximum of 12 participants.
